About
Brian Mullin is a playwright, dramaturg and theatre-maker whose work spans genres, uncovers hidden histories and interrogates themes of mutual care. He frequently writes, teaches, and co-creates with community groups, using performance as a methodology for social change.
With his show Live to Tell, Brian debuted as a writer/performer. Following R&D at the Yard and Battersea Arts Centre, it premiered with an off-West End tour in 2023, produced by PlayWell Productions.
In 2015, he was selected for the 503Five residency at Theatre503, London, where his debut play We Wait in Joyful Hope premiered in May 2016. The playscript is available from Methuen.
Brian was also a founding member of international devising ensemble Babakas. Their debut production Our Fathers was performed across the UK and internationally. The text is published by Oberon.
His scripts have been developed on both sides of the Atlantic including by The Yard, The Orange Tree, High Tide & Lincoln Center Directors Lab.
Brian holds a BA in Theatre Studies / Literature from Yale University and an MA Writing for Performance from Goldsmiths. He was a 2001 Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, where he received an M.Phil. in English, researching Shakespearean performance.
